Albany Med fires CEO Daniel Pickett after assault allegation

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Albany Med Health System s board said it unanimously fired President and CEO Daniel Pickett, and will start a national search for a new leader. The Albany Med Health System Board released the statement Wednesday, Nov. 4. It said Pickett s employment was terminated effective immediately. The termination comes on the heels of a defamation lawsuit Pickett filed against ex-girlfriend, Marlee Cohen. The lawsuit alleges Cohen tried to extort Pickett but claiming she was assaulted by him in 2025. Pickett was put on paid administrative leave at the beginning of October. “After thoughtful and careful deliberation, the Albany Med Health System Board has voted unanimously to terminate the employment of President and CEO Daniel T. Pickett, III, effective immediately,” the board said. The board said its review focused on what it called the best interest of employees, the community and the health system.
